She's not scary at all

Image
Not sure what her history is other than very cute puppy mom. But she definitely wasn't socialized. It took a few days to get used to our dog. Took a week to get used to my mom's dog. And she appears excited when she sees other dogs, but also stressed.  She's definitely got that big dog bark. But it must confuse people when they see us walking because if she was a mean husky my daughter would totally not be happy with her.  As a toddler she sits, hits, hugs, kisses Kaya and she just takes it. Obviously as I always advise, never leave any kiddo with a dog who could cause harm. Only because I understand and always emphasize that kids are rude and dogs have nothing but their paws sand mouth to tell humans no.  With time and more exposures, she will definitely be better. She's gotten less stressed as she gets more familiar with my neighborhood. But at the end of the day, she'll be initially misunderstood. She just wants love and is SO SO SO beyond  devoted. She's so ...

We've figured out a schedule!!

We knew she was pottied trained but she still had accidents. We've been working on manners as she still has some anxiety when she sees people and dogs. Not sure if it's the mom in her or she was never socialized well.  So she loves walks so I wake up and before the child wakes up take her for a walk and now it gets shorter and she pees. Then after work we take a long walk and she always pees and poops. Then one short walk before bed and no accidents for weeks. Success, just had to figure it out.  Now to the socializing. She's pretty intense when she barks so many are hesitant as they should be. It took a couple days to get used to our dog so naturally we know it's going to take some time and patience. Had left her with my mom and her dog a few days and they didn't hit it off until day 3. Same patterns, the human pack leader just has to show her right and wrong and demand she gets along with others and she's eager to please.  Work in progress, but she's grown...

One month update

It has been a busy month.  Finally got a schedule down of exercise and potty schedule. She is definitely one of those dogs that potties on walks.  She's regular and if we stick to the schedule, haven't had an accident in the house since. And she's not complaining about the walks either.  Her anxiety is an opportunity for practice. She's always on guard and just needs to learn her owner has her back and once she let's you know what she sees and you acknowledge it, she's slowly getting better with the leave it command. Her bark definitely gets everyone's attention and definitely turns heads.
